Luggage Compartment Door Opener does not Operate: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CLOSER MOTOR) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the luggage closer motor operates.
      BODY NO. 4 (LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK)

      Tester Display Tester Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Trunk Lid Open Operate luggage compartment door latch release ON or OFF -

      OK

      Luggage compartment door latch release motor is ON / OFF.

    OK → See step   4 

    NG: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER

    1. Remove the luggage compartment door closer. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Set the door closer latch to the full latch position.
    3. Apply battery voltage to the door closer connector and check the motor operation.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1 (M+)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 4 (M-)
      Luggage compartment door closer full-latch → open-latch

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ECU - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER)

    1. Disconnect the LA junction block connector.
    2. Disconnect the S36 closer connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      LA-1 (LCM+) - S36-1 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      LA-39 (LCM-) - S36-4 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      LA-1 (LCM+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      LA-39 (LCM-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the luggage compartment door opener switch.
      MAIN BODY (MAIN BODY ECU)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Trunk/BDoor Open SW Luggage compartment door opener switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Luggage compartment door opener switch is ON
      OFF: Luggage compartment door opener switch is OFF
      -

      OK

      Display changes according to operation of luggage compartment door opener switch.

    OK → See step   7 

    NG: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH

    1. Remove the luggage compartment door opener switch. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 (L) - 4 (B) Luggage compartment door opener switch is ON Below 1 Ω
      3 (L) - 4 (B) Luggage compartment door opener switch is OFF 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENING SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the L3 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the L13 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L3-4 (B) - L13-26 (TSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      L3-3 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      L3-4 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

  7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER CANCEL SWITCH) 
    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the luggage compartment door opener cancel switch.
      MAIN BODY (MAIN BODY ECU)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Trunk Main SW Luggage compartment door opener cancel switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Luggage compartment door opener cancel switch is ON
      OFF: Luggage compartment door opener cancel switch is OFF
      -

      OK

      Display changes according to operation of luggage compartment door opener cancel switch.

    OK → See step   10 

    NG: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER CANCEL SWITCH

    1. Remove the luggage compartment door opener cancel switch. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 ON Below 1 Ω
      1 - 2 OFF 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the L83 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the L11 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L83-2 - L11-3 (TMSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      L83-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      L83-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

  10. CHECK REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the luggage room junction block with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the luggage door opener system is normal.

      OK

      Luggage door opener system is normal.

    NG → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

    OK → END (LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  11. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  12. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  13. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER CANCEL SWITCH. Refer to  COMPONENTS
