DTC B256B: Lock in Side Package Tray Motor RH Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE (SIDE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM MOTOR RH) 
    1. Remove the side package tray trim motor RH.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the motor connector according to the table below.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 2
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Motor gear rotates counterclockwise
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 2
      Motor gear rotates clockwise
    3. Connect an electrical tester DC 400 A probe to the wire harness of the motor.
      NOTE:

      Match the arrow mark of the probe with the direction of the current flow.

    4. Measure the current according to the value(s) in the table below.
      NOTE:

      Make sure to perform the inspection after the motor cools down sufficiently. Otherwise the result may not meet the specified condition due to protection circuit operation in the motor.

      Standard Current

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 2
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Below 0.4 A
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Side Package Tray Trim Motor RH)
      *2 Motor Gear
      *3 Clockwise
      *4 Counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE (SIDE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM MOTOR RH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the h9 and Q36 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q36-1 (SMR+) - Q36-2 (SMR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE (HARNESS AND CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the h9 and A connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      h9-4 (SMR+) - A-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      h9-5 (SMR-) - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      h9-4 (SMR+) - h9-5 (SMR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (No. 1 Package Tray Trim Hinge)

    NG → REPLACE NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE (HARNESS OR CONNECTOR) 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
