DTC B2560: Motor Lock in Roof Lock Motor: Procedure

  1. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK MOTOR) 
    1. Remove the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (roof front lock motor).

    2. Apply battery voltage and check operation of the roof front lock motor.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → 1 (HLM+)
      Battery negative (-) → 2 (HLM-)
      Motor gear rotates counterclockwise
      Battery positive (+) → 2 (HLM-)
      Battery negative (-) → 1 (HLM+)
      Motor gear rotates clockwise
    3. Connect an electrical tester DC 400 A probe to the wire harness of the motor.
      NOTE:

      Match the arrow mark of the probe with the direction of the current flow.

    4. Measure the current according to the value(s) in the table below.
      NOTE:

      Make sure to perform the inspection after the motor cools down sufficiently. Otherwise the result may not meet the specified condition due to protection circuit operation in the motor.

      Standard Current

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → 2 (HLM-)
      Battery negative (-) → 1 (HLM+)
      0.1 to 1.6 A
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Sliding Roof Drive Gear Sub-assembly)
      *2 Motor Gear
      *3 Clockwise
      *4 Counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Check that the wire harness of the roof front lock switch has not been pinched by the body.
    2. Disconnect the e2 connector.

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Removable Roof Lock Sub-assembly)
      *2 Roof Front Lock Switch
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (RLR) - 2 (RLRE) Switch pressed Below 1 Ω
      1 (RLR) - Body ground Switch not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (RLR) - 2 (RLRE) Switch not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK SWITCH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the e2 and P53 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      e2-1 (RLR) - P53-21 (RLR) Always Below 1 Ω
      e2-2 (RLRE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      P53-21 (RLR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Removable Roof Lock Sub-assembly)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the e1 and e2 connectors.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the motor connector and measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (RLR) - 2 (RLRE) Battery positive (+) → 1 (HLM+)
      Battery negative (-) → 2 (HLM-)
      (Removable roof lock unlocks)
      Below 1 Ω
      1 (RLR) - 2 (RLRE) Battery positive (+) → 2 (HLM-)
      Battery negative (-) → 1 (HLM+)
      (Removable roof lock unlocks)
      10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Removable Roof Lock Sub-assembly)
      *2 Component without harness connected
      (Sliding Roof Drive Gear Sub-assembly)

    NG → REPLACE REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF FRONT LOCK SWITCH) 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
