DTC B255E: Luggage Door Closer Switch LH Abnormal Operation: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LH CLOSER POLE SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RETRACTABLE HARDTOP (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      LH Closer Pole SW Closer pole switch LH signal/ON or OFF ON: Closer pole switch LH on (immediately before luggage door half or full latch)
      OFF: Closer pole switch LH off (luggage door fully open or fully closed)
      -

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE LH - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the Q42, Q43 and Q36 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q42-7 (LCLP) - Q36-8 (LCLP) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q36-8 (LCLP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q43-2 (LCLE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Luggage Compartment Door Hinge Assembly LH)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS AND CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the Q42, Q43 and A connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q42-7 (LCLP) - A-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-2 (LCLE) - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q42-7 (LCLP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Luggage Compartment Door Hinge Assembly LH)

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY LH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY LH) 
    1. Disconnect the A connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      HINT: 

      Using a screwdriver, move the latch to each position indicated in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-5 - A-1 Open latch → Full latch OFF (10 kΩ or higher) → ON (Below 1 Ω) → OFF (10 kΩ or higher) → ON (Below 1 Ω) → OFF (10 kΩ or higher)
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Luggage Compartment Door Hinge Assembly LH (Luggage Door Closer Assembly LH))
      *2 Open latch
      *3 Half latch
      *4 Full latch

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS OR CONNECTOR) 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
