DTC B254E: Back Window Panel LH Pulse Sensor Abnormal Operation: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LH BW PANEL PULSE VALUE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RETRACTABLE HARDTOP (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      LH BW Panel Pulse Value Back window panel LH pulse/Min.: -4000, Max.: 4000 -4000 to 4000 -

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the Q41 and Q35 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q41-3 (R3LB) - Q35-16 (R3LB) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q41-6 (R3L) - Q35-14 (R3L) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q41-7 (R3LE) - Q35-13 (R3LE) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q35-16 (R3LB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-14 (R3L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-13 (R3LE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-16 (R3LB) - Q35-13 (R3LE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-14 (R3L) - Q35-13 (R3LE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Slide Roof Motor Assembly)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY (BACK WINDOW MOTOR LH) 
    1. Disconnect the A connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-5 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-6 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Slide Roof Motor Assembly)

    NG → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY (BACK WINDOW MOTOR LH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the Q41 and Q35 connectors.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 - A-5 Always 6 to 10 V

    NG → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY (BACK WINDOW MOTOR LH)
