DTC B2542: Abnormal Luggage Door Drive Motor LH Pulse: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE PULSE/LH VALUE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RETRACTABLE HARDTOP (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Luggage Pulse/Lh Value Luggage motor LH pulse/Min.: -4000, Max.: 4000 -4000 to 4000 -

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE LH - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the Q43 and Q35 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q43-6 (LPLB) - Q35-15 (LPLB) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-5 (LPL) - Q35-23 (LPL) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-4 (LPLE) - Q35-12 (LPLE) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q35-15 (LPLB) - Q35-12 (LPLE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-23 (LPL) - Q35-12 (LPLE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-15 (LPLB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-23 (LPL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-12 (LPLE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Luggage Compartment Door Hinge Assembly LH)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS AND CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the Q43 and A connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q43-6 (LPLB) - Q43-4 (LPLE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q43-5 (LPL) - Q43-4 (LPLE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q43-6 (LPLB) - A-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-5 (LPL) - A-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-4 (LPLE) - A-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Luggage Compartment Door Hinge Assembly LH)

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS OR CONNECTOR) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the Q35 and Q45 connectors.

    2. Disconnect the A connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-6 - A-4 Always 6 to 10 V

    NG → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    OK → REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY LH (LUGGAGE MOTOR LH)
