DTC B2540: Abnormal Difference Between RH and LH Roof Drive Motor Pulse: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ROOF PULSE/RH VALUE, ROOF PULSE/LH VALUE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RETRACTABLE HARDTOP (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Roof Pulse/Rh Value Roof motor RH pulse/Min.: -4000, Max.: 4000 -4000 to 4000 -
      Roof Pulse/Lh Value Roof motor LH pulse/Min.: -4000, Max.: 4000 -4000 to 4000 -

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR RH - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the P56 and P53 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P56-3 (RPRB) - P53-27 (RPRB) Always Below 1 Ω
      P56-6 (RPR) - P53-14 (RPR) Always Below 1 Ω
      P56-7 (RPRE) - P53-30 (RPRE) Always Below 1 Ω
      P53-27 (RPRB) - P53-30 (RPRE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P53-14 (RPR) - P53-30 (RPRE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P53-27 (RPRB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P53-14 (RPR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P53-30 (RPRE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Drive Gear Assembly RH)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR LH - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the Q45 and Q35 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q40-3 (RPLB) - Q35-25 (RPLB) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q40-6 (RPL) - Q35-24 (RPL) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q40-7 (RPLE) - Q35-22 (RPLE) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q35-25 (RPLB) - Q35-22 (RPLE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-24 (RPL) - Q35-22 (RPLE) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-25 (RPLB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-24 (RPL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q35-22 (RPLE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
