DTC B253F: Side Package Tray Switch RH Abnormal Operation: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (RH SIDE PAC TRAY SW NO. 1, RH SIDE PAC TRAY SW NO. 2) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RETRACTABLE HARDTOP (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      RH Side Pac Tray SW No. 1 No. 1 side package tray RH switch signal/ON or OFF ON: No. 1 side package tray RH switch on (No. 1 package tray trim hinge)
      OFF: No. 1 side package tray RH switch off (No. 1 package tray trim hinge)

      RH Side Pac Tray SW No. 2 No. 2 side package tray RH switch signal/ON or OFF ON: No. 2 side package tray RH switch on (No. 1 package tray trim hinge)
      OFF: No. 2 side package tray RH switch off (No. 1 package tray trim hinge)

      NG [RH Side Pac Tray SW No. 1] A
      NG [RH Side Pac Tray SW No. 2] B
      OK C

    C → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE 
    1. Disconnect the h9 connector.

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (No. 1 Package Tray Trim Hinge)
      *2 No. 1 Side Package Tray RH Switch
      *3 Fully stowed position *4 Temporarily moved clear position
      *5 Fully deployed position - -
    2. Remove the slide roof motor assembly (side package tray motor).
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (SPR1) - 2 (SPRE) While changing from fully stowed position to temporarily moved clear position Below 1 Ω → 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPR1) - 2 (SPRE) While changing from temporarily moved clear position to fully deployed position 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPR1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the h9 and Q36 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      h9-3 (SPR1) - Q36-16 (SPR1) Always Below 1 Ω
      h9-3 (SPR1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      h9-2 (SPRE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Sliding Roof Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

  4. INSPECT NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE 
    1. Disconnect the h9 connector.

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (No. 1 Package Tray Trim Hinge)
      *2 No. 2 Side Package Tray RH Switch
      *3 Fully stowed position *4 Temporarily moved clear position
      *5 Fully deployed position - -
    2. Remove the slide roof motor assembly (side package tray motor).
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (SPR2) - 2 (SPRE) While changing from fully stowed position to temporarily moved clear position Below 1 Ω → 10 kΩ or higher → Below 1 Ω
      1 (SPR2) - 2 (SPRE) While changing from temporarily moved clear position to fully deployed position Below 1 Ω → 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (SPR2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM HINGE - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the h9 and Q36 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      h9-1 (SPR2) - Q36-12 (SPR2) Always Below 1 Ω
      h9-1 (SPR2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      h9-2 (SPRE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
