DTC B2536: Luggage Courtesy Switch Malfunction: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (RH CLOSER COURTESY SW, LH CLOSER COURTESY SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Retractable Hardtop / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RETRACTABLE HARDTOP (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      RH Closer Courtesy SW Closer courtesy switch RH signal/ON or OFF ON: Closer courtesy switch RH on (luggage door open)
      OFF: Closer courtesy switch RH off (luggage door fully closed)
      -
      LH Closer Courtesy SW Closer courtesy switch LH signal/ON or OFF ON: Closer courtesy switch LH on (luggage door open)
      OFF: Closer courtesy switch LH off (luggage door fully closed)
      -

      OK

      The Techstream display changes according to condition as shown in the table.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

  2. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY RH (COURTESY SWITCH RH) 
    1. Remove the luggage door closer assembly RH.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the motor connector and measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 - A-1 Battery positive (+) → B-2
      Battery negative (-) → B-1
      Below 1 Ω
      A-4 - A-1 Battery positive (+) → B-1
      Battery negative (-) → B-2
      10 kΩ or higher
      A-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Component without harness connected

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY RH (COURTESY SWITCH RH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (COURTESY SWITCH LH) 
    1. Remove the luggage door closer assembly LH.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the motor connector and measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C-4 - C-1 Battery positive (+) → D-2
      Battery negative (-) → D-1
      Below 1 Ω
      C-4 - C-1 Battery positive (+) → D-1
      Battery negative (-) → D-2
      10 kΩ or higher
      C-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Component without harness connected

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (COURTESY SWITCH LH) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE - SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the P58, P59, Q42, Q43, P53 and Q36 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P58-2 (LCRF) - P53-19 (LCRF) Always Below 1 Ω
      P59-2 (LCRE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Q42-2 (LCLF) - Q36-9 (LCLF) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-2 (LCLE) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      P58-2 (LCRF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q42-2 (LCLF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY RH (HARNESS AND CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the P58, P59 and A connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P58-2 (LCRF) - A-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      P59-2 (LCRE) - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P58-2 (LCRF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P59-2 (LCRE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Luggage Compartment Door Hinge Assembly RH)

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY RH (HARNESS OR CONNECTOR) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS AND CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the Q42, Q43 and C connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q42-2 (LCLF) - A-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q43-2 (LCLE) - A-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q42-2 (LCLF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q43-2 (LCLE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR HINGE ASSEMBLY LH (HARNESS OR CONNECTOR) 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
