DTC P0A2C-247: Drive Motor "A" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low; DTC P0A2D-249: Drive Motor "A" Temperature Sensor Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) See step   3 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MOTOR TEMP NO1) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor Temp No1.
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      -58°F (-50°C) A
      401°F (205°C) B
      Same as actual temperature C
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    C → See step   7 

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHECK FOR OPEN) 
    1. Disconnect connector C25 from the motor temperature sensor.

    2. Connect terminals 1 (MMT) and 3 (MMTG) of connector C25 of the motor temperature sensor.

    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor Temp No1.
    6. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Motor Temp No1 Terminals MMT and MMTG connected.
      Power switch on (IG)
      401°F (205°C)

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Motor Temperature Sensor)

      HINT: 

      The motor temperature sensor is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    7. Turn the power switch off.
    8. Connect the motor temperature sensor connector.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   8 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect connector C25 from the motor temperature sensor.
    2. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C25-1 (MMT) - A58-78 (MMT) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      C25-3 (MMTG) - A58-77 (MMTG) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C25-1 (MMT) or A58-78 (MMT) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      C25-3 (MMTG) or A58-77 (MMTG) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    4. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Connect the motor temperature sensor connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   9 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHECK FOR SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect connector C25 from the motor temperature sensor.

    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor Temp No1.
    5. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Motor Temp No1 Power switch on (IG) -58°F (-50°C)

      HINT: 

      The motor temperature sensor is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    6. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect connector C25 from the motor temperature sensor.
    2. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    4. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    5. Connect the motor temperature sensor connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   9 

  7. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY. Refer to COMPONENTS 
  9. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to COMPONENTS
