  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT SENSOR MAIN, SHIFT SENSOR SUB) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Shift Sensor Main, Shift Sensor Sub.
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Shift Sensor Main R position 0.3 to 1.8 V
      Home or N position 2.0 to 3.0 V
      D or B position 3.2 to 4.8 V
      Shift Sensor Sub R position 0.3 to 1.8 V
      Home or N position 2.0 to 3.0 V
      D or B position 3.2 to 4.8 V
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT SENSOR SELECT MAIN, SHIFT SENSOR SELECT SUB) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Shift Sensor Select Main, Shift Sensor Select Sub.
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Shift Sensor Select Main R, N or D Position 2.9 to 4.3 V
      Home or B Position 1.0 to 1.6 V
      Shift Sensor Select Sub R, N or D Position 2.9 to 4.3 V
      Home or B Position 1.0 to 1.6 V
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. REPLACE TRANSMISSION INSTRUMENT PANEL SHIFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the transmission instrument panel shift assembly. Refer toCOMPONENTS .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Perform a road test.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      P082B-575, P082C-576, P082E-571, P082F-572, P181A-596, P181B-595, P182B-577, P182C-578, P182E-573 or P182F-574 is output again. B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   16 

    A → COMPLETED 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - SHIFT SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Disconnect connector F45 from the shift sensor.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      A58-86 (VCX1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A58-85 (VSX1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A58-101 (E2X1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A58-70 (VCX2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for open)

      A58-86 (VCX1) - F45-3 (VCX1) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A58-85 (VSX1) - F45-1 (VSX1) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A58-101 (E2X1) - F45-2 (E2X1) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A58-70 (VCX2) - F45-6 (VCX2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A58-69 (VSX2) - F45-4 (VSX2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A58-100 (E2X2) - F45-5 (E2X2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for short)

      A58-85 (VSX1) or F45-1 (VSX1) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A58-101 (E2X1) or F45-2 (E2X1) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A58-70 (VCX2) or F45-6 (VCX2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A58-69 (VSX2) or F45-4 (VSX2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A58-100 (E2X2) or F45-5 (E2X2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Connect the shift sensor connector.
    8. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (VCX1, VCX2 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect connector F45 from the shift sensor.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F45-3 (VCX1) - F45-2 (E2X1) Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V
      F45-6 (VCX2) - F45-5 (E2X2) Power switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V

    4. Connect the shift sensor connector.

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. REPLACE TRANSMISSION INSTRUMENT PANEL SHIFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the transmission instrument panel shift assembly. Refer toCOMPONENTS .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  9. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Perform a road test.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      P082B-575, P082C-576, P082E-571, P082F-572, P181A-596, P181B-595, P182B-577, P182C-578, P182E-573 or P182F-574 is output again. B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   16 

    A → COMPLETED 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - SELECT SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Disconnect connector F46 from the select sensor.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for open)

      A58-67 (VCX3) - F46-5 (VCX3) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A58-98 (VSX3) - F46-4 (VSX3) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      A58-97 (VSX4) - F46-1 (VSX4) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for short)

      A58-97 (VSX4) or F46-1 (VSX4) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Connect the select sensor connector.
    8. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (VCX3, VCX4 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect connector F46 from the select sensor.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F46-5 (VCX3) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 9 to 14 V
      F46-2 (VCX4) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 9 to 14 V

    4. Connect the select sensor connector.

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. REPLACE TRANSMISSION INSTRUMENT PANEL SHIFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the transmission instrument panel shift assembly. Refer toCOMPONENTS .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  14. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Perform a road test.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      P082B-575, P082C-576, P082E-571, P082F-572, P181A-596, P181B-595, P182B-577, P182C-578, P182E-573 or P182F-574 is output again. B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

  16. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to COMPONENTS
