DTC P0617-142: Starter Relay Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ST2 TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the power switch is off.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A58-37 (ST2) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
    3. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Turn the power switch off and leave the vehicle as it is for approximately 5 seconds.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) again.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Recheck for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0617-142 is output again A
      DTC P0617-142 is not output B

    B → See step   6 

    A → See step   7 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect connector F51 from the power management control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect connector A58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the power switch is off.

      Standard Voltage

      A58-37 (ST2) or F51-7 (ST2) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V
    4. Connect the power management control ECU connector.
    5. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to COMPONENTS 
  6. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  7. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to COMPONENTS
