DTC P0A1F-123: Battery Energy Control Module: Procedure

  1. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Measure the voltage between the terminals of the auxiliary battery.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V

    NG → CHARGE OR REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGCT VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair manual because this may cause a malfunction.

    3. Remove the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    4. Disconnect the z15 connector from the battery smart unit.

    5. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    7. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      z15-1 (IGCT) - z15-5 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 8.6 V or higher
      NOTE:
      • After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair manual because this may cause a malfunction.
      • Turning the power switch on (IG) with the service plug grip removed causes DTCs to be set. Use the Techstream to clear the DTCs.

    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Connect the z15 connector to the battery smart unit
    10. Install the hybrid battery junction block assembly.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   6 

  3. CHECK FUSE (IGCT, IGCT NO. 2) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Remove the IGCT and IGCT No. 2 fuses from the engine room junction block assembly.

      *1 Engine Room Junction Block Assembly
      *2 IGCT Fuse
      *3 IGCT No. 2 Fuse
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      IGCT fuse Always Below 1 Ω
      IGCT No. 2 fuse Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Install the IGCT and IGCT No. 2 fuses to the engine room junction block assembly.

    NG → REPLACE FUSE (IGCT, IGCT NO. 2) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK RELAY (IGCT) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Remove the IGCT relay from the engine room junction block assembly.

      *2 IGCT Relay
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Auxiliary battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 below 1 Ω
      Auxiliary battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or more
    4. Install the IGCT relay to the engine room junction block assembly.

    NG → REPLACE RELAY (IGCT) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGCT RELAY - BATTERY SMART UNIT) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Remove the IGCT relay from the engine room junction block assembly.

    3. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair manual because this may cause a malfunction.

    4. Remove the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    5. Disconnect only the z15 connector of the battery smart unit.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      IGCT relay terminal 5 - z15-4 (IGCT) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

    7. Connect the z15 connector of the battery smart unit.
    8. Install the hybrid battery junction block assembly.
    9. Install the IGCT relay to the engine room junction block assembly.
    10. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

  6. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to  REMOVAL
