DTC C1777: Steering Angle Sensor Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Turn the engine switch off.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) again and check that no CAN communication system DTC is output.
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Drive the vehicle and turn the steering wheel to the right and left at the speed of 24 mph (35 km/h) to check that a DTC is output. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR . Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2GR-FSE) and. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR (1UR-FSE)).

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC C1777 is output A
      CAN communication system DTC is output B
      Steering angle sensor DTC is output (Brake control system trouble code C1231/31) C

    C → REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE 

    B → REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K19-1 (IG) -
      K19-2 (ESS)
      Engine switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V
    4. Turn the engine switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K19-2 (ESS) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      OK (When troubleshooting accordance with the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE) B
      NG C

    C → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    B → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    A → REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
