Step Illumination Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK OPERATION OF FOOT LIGHT AND ILLUMINATION LIGHT 
    1. When a door is opened, check that the appropriate light illuminates.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All lights do not illuminate A
      Foot light (LH) does not illuminate B
      Foot light (RH) does not illuminate C
      Foot light (rear LH or rear LH No. 2) does not illuminate D
      Foot light (rear RH or rear RH No. 2) does not illuminate E

    D → See step   10 

    C → See step   7 

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the step light illuminates.
      BODY (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU)

      Step light illuminates.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  3. INSPECT FUSE (DOME, D/C CUT) 
    1. Remove the DOME fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay block.
    2. Remove the D/C CUT fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay block.
    3. Measure the resistance of the fuses.

      Standard resistance

      Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPLACE FUSE 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  4. REPLACE FOOT LIGHT (LH) 
    1. Temporarily replace the foot light (LH) with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the foot light illuminates.

      OK

      Foot light illuminates.

    OK → END 

    NG: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOOT LIGHT (LH) - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the K17 light connector.

    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K17-2 - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOOT LIGHT (LH) - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the K17 light connector.

    2. Disconnect the K68 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K17-1 - K68-15 (FSPT) Below 1 Ω
      K17-1 or K68-15 (FSPT) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  7. REPLACE FOOT LIGHT (RH) 
    1. Temporarily replace the foot light (RH) with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the foot light illuminates.

      OK

      Foot light illuminates.

    OK → END 

    NG: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOOT LIGHT (RH) - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the K49 light connector.

    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K49-2 - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOOT LIGHT (RH) - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the K49 light connector.

    2. Disconnect the K68 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K49-1 - K68-15 (FSPT) Below 1 Ω
      K49-1 or K68-15 (FSPT) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  10. REPLACE INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT (FRONT LH SEAT) 
    1. Temporarily replace the illumination light (front LH seat) with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the illumination light illuminates.

      OK

      Illumination light illuminates.

    OK → END 

    NG: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT (REAR LH SEAT) - BATTERY) 
    1. for Rear LH
      1. Disconnect the b12 light connector.

      2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

        Standard voltage

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        b12-2 - Body ground 10 to 14 V
    2. for Rear LH No. 2
      1. Disconnect the b17 light connector.

      2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

        Standard voltage

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        b17-2 - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT (REAR LH SEAT) - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. for Rear LH
      1. Disconnect the b12 light connector.

      2. Disconnect the K68 ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        b12-1 - K68-15 (FSPT) Below 1 Ω
        b12-1 or K68-15 (FSPT) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for Rear LH No. 2
      1. Disconnect the b17 light connector.

      2. Disconnect the K68 ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        b17-1 - K68-15 (FSPT) Below 1 Ω
        b17-1 or K68-15 (FSPT) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

  13. REPLACE INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT (FRONT RH SEAT) 
    1. Temporarily replace the illumination light (front RH seat) with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the illumination light illuminates.

      OK

      Illumination light illuminates.

    OK → END 

    NG: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT (REAR RH SEAT) - BATTERY) 
    1. for Rear RH
      1. Disconnect the a12 light connector.

      2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

        Standard voltage

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        a12-2 - Body ground 10 to 14 V
    2. for Rear RH No. 2
      1. Disconnect the a21 light connector.

      2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

        Standard voltage

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        a21-2 - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT (REAR RH SEAT) - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. for Rear RH
      1. Disconnect the a12 light connector.

      2. Disconnect the K68 ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        a12-1 - K68-15 (FSPT) Below 1 Ω
        a12-1 or K68-15 (FSPT) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for Rear RH No. 2
      1. Disconnect the a21 light connector.

      2. Disconnect the K68 ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        a21-1 - K68-15 (FSPT) Below 1 Ω
        a21-1 or K68-15 (FSPT) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
