DTC C1916: Malfunction in Rear Active Stabilizer Control ECU Local CAN Transmission: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAN COMMUNICATION LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the A49 front active stabilizer control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A49-1 (LCN+) - A49-8 (LCN-) Engine switch off 54 to 69 Ω
      A49-2 (CANH) - A49-3 (CANL) Engine switch off

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAN COMMUNICATION LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the e1 rear active stabilizer control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      e1-1 (LCN+) - e1-8 (LCN-) Engine switch off 54 to 69 Ω
      e1-2 (CANH) - e1-3 (CANL) Engine switch off

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAN COMMUNICATION LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the A23 power steering ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A23-1 (CAN+) - A23-8 (CAN-) Engine switch off 54 to 69 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAN COMMUNICATION LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the A40 steering control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A40-4 (CAN+) - A40-9 (CAN-) Engine switch off 54 to 69 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK OPERATION OF REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Exchange the front active stabilizer control ECU with the rear active stabilizer control ECU.
    3. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and press the Techstream main switch ON.
    5. Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    6. Check for DTC.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC C193D is output A
      DTC is not output B

    B → CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    A → See step   6 

  6. REPLACE REAR ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
