DTC C1337: Different Diameter Tire Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK TIRES 
    1. Check the size and condition of all 4 wheels. Refer to INSPECTION .

      HINT: 

      The DTC is output when tire deformation or a difference in tire size is detected.

      OK

      The diameter of all 4 tires and air pressures are the same.

      Result

      OK (for front 4WD and/or rear) A
      OK (for front 2WD) B
      NG C

    C → REPLACE TIRES SO THAT ALL FOUR TIRES ARE SAME SIZE 

    B → See step   12 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SPEED SENSOR TIP 
    1. Remove the front speed sensor or the rear speed sensor. Refer to REMOVAL for front, or refer to REMOVAL for rear).
    2. Check the speed sensor tip.

      OK

      No scratches, oil, or foreign matter on the sensor tip.

      NOTE:

      Check the speed sensor signal after cleaning or replacement. Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .

    NG → CLEAN OR REPLACE SPEED SENSOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK SPEED SENSOR ROTOR 
    1. Remove the front speed sensor rotor or the rear speed sensor rotor. Refer to REMOVAL for front, or refer to REMOVAL for rear).
    2. Check the speed sensor rotor.

      OK

      No scratches, oil, or foreign matter on the rotors.

      NOTE:

      Check the speed sensor signal after cleaning or replacement. Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .

      HINT: 

      • The front speed sensor rotor is incorporated into the front axle hub sub-assembly.

        If the front speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front axle hub sub-assembly.

      • The rear speed sensor rotor is incorporated into the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

        If the rear speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

    NG → CLEAN OR REPLACE SPEED SENSOR ROTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE) 
    1. Install the speed sensor and the speed sensor rotor.

    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.
    3. Disconnect the speed sensor connector and the skid control sensor wire.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      for Front RH 

      for Rear RH 

      for Front LH 

      for Rear LH

      NOTE:

      Check the speed sensor signal after replacement. Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .

    NG → REPLACE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - SPEED SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the skid control sensor wire.

    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.
    3. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      for Front RH 

      for Rear RH 

      for Front LH 

      for Rear LH

      A58-7 (FR+) - V1-2 (FR+) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (SENSOR INPUT) 
    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      for Front RH 

      for Rear RH 

      for Front LH 

      for Rear LH 

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      V1-2 (FR+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      X1-2 (RR+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V

      W1-2 (FL+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V

    NG → See step   18 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Reconnect the speed sensor connectors.
    3. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Check if the same DTC is recorded. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC (C1337) is output A
      DTC (C1337) is not output B

    B → See step   19 

    A: Go to next step 

  8. REPLACE SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Replace the front speed sensor or the rear speed sensor. Refer to REMOVAL for front, or refer to REMOVAL for rear).
      NOTE:

      Check the speed sensor signal after replacement. Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  9. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Check if the same DTC is recorded. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC (C1337) is output A
      DTC (C1337) is not output B

    B → END 

    A: Go to next step 

  10. REPLACE SPEED SENSOR ROTOR 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Replace the front axle hub sub-assembly (front speed sensor rotor) or the rear axle hub and bearing assembly (rear speed sensor rotor). Refer to REMOVAL for front, or refer to REMOVAL for rear).

      HINT: 

      • The front speed sensor rotor is incorporated into the front axle hub sub-assembly.

        If the front speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front axle hub sub-assembly.

      • The rear speed sensor rotor is incorporated into the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

        If the rear speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      NOTE:

      Check the speed sensor signal after replacement. Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  11. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Check if the same DTC is recorded. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC (C1337) is output A
      DTC (C1337) is not output B

    B → END

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.

    2. Disconnect the front speed sensor connector and the skid control sensor wire.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    NG → REPLACE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - FRONT SPEED SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the skid control sensor wire.

    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.
    3. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      for RH 

      for LH 

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A58-7 (FR+) - V1-2 (FR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A58-7 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (SENSOR INPUT) 
    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      for RH 

      for LH 

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      V1-2 (FR+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      W1-2 (FL+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V

    NG → See step   18 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Reconnect the front speed sensor connector.
    3. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Check if the same DTC is recorded. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC (C1337) is output A
      DTC (C1337) is not output B

    A: Go to next step 

  16. REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR AND FRONT SPEED SENSOR ROTOR 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Replace the front speed sensor and the front axle hub sub-assembly (front speed sensor rotor). Refer to REMOVAL .

      HINT: 

      The front speed sensor rotor is incorporated into the front axle hub sub-assembly.

      If the front speed sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front axle hub sub-assembly with front speed sensor.

      NOTE:

      Check the speed sensor signal after replacement. Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  17. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Check if the same DTC is recorded. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC (C1337) is output A
      DTC (C1337) is not output B

    B → END

  18. REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  19. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE
