Data List / Active Test

  1. DATA LIST 

    HINT: 

    Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    NOTE:

    In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.
    3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    5. Enter the following menus:
      1. for Combination Meter: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
      2. for ABS/TRAC/VSC: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
      3. for Engine and ECT: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
    6. Check values by referring to the table below.
      COMBINATION METER:

      Light Control Rheostat Light Control Rheostat/Min.: 0, Max.: 255 Light control rheostat switch is Dark (0) → Bright (255) -
      ODO/TRIP Change SW ODO/TRIP switch is ON/OFF ON: Switch is pushed
      OFF: Switch is released      		 -

      Coolant Temp Coolant temperature/Min.: -40°C (-40°F), Max.: 140°C (284°F) After warming up: 80 to 95°C (176 to 203°F) If the value is "-40°C (-40°F)" or "140°C (284°F)", sensor circuit is open or shorted.
  2. ACTIVE TEST 

    HINT: 

    Using the Techstream to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    4. Check the operation by referring to the table below.
      COMBINATION METER:

      Speed Meter Operation Speedometer 0, 40, 80, 120 mph (*1) Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling

      Tachometer Operation Tachometer 0, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000 (rpm) Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling
      Fuel Meter Operation Fuel receiver gauge EMPTY, 1/2, FULL Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling
      Water Temperature Meter Operation Engine coolant temperature receiver gauge Low, Normal, High Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling
