DTC P0AE6-225: Hybrid Battery Precharge Contactor Control Circuit Low: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.
    5. Refer to "Proceed to" in the table below to perform each inspection.

  2. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK AND FUSE 
    1. Check the fuse (IGCT2 NO. 2) in the engine room No. 3 relay block, and the fusible link (MAIN) that is installed at the auxiliary battery, for improper installation and for an open circuit.

      OK

      They are installed securely. There are no open circuits in the fusible link or fuse.

    NG → REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK AND FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FUSES (IGCT3 FUSE) 
    1. Check the fuse (IGCT3) in the luggage room junction block assembly for improper installation and for an open circuit.

      OK

      The fuse is installed securely. There is no open circuit in the fuse.

    NG → REPLACE FUSE (IGCT3 FUSE) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER (AMD TERMINAL CONNECTION CONDITION) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    3. Check the connection of the AMD terminal (hybrid vehicle converter side).

      OK

      The terminal is connected securely and there is no contact problem.

    4. Check for arc marks on the AMD terminals (hybrid vehicle converter side and vehicle wire harness side).

      Result

      The terminals are not connected securely and there is a contact problem. There are arc marks. B
      The terminals are not connected securely and there is a contact problem. There are no arc marks. C

    C → CONNECT SECURELY 

    B → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    A: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (AMD TERMINAL) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      AMD terminal - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   24 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGC2 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the battery pack wire connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      zR2-11 (IGC2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      zR2-8 (SMRP) - Body ground Power switch off 370 to 430 kΩ

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY PACK WIRE CONNECTOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the low voltage connector from the hybrid vehicle converter.

      HINT: 

      For the removal and installation procedures related to the low voltage connector of the hybrid vehicle converter. Refer toREMOVAL .

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      zR2-11 (IGC2) - z35-1 (IGC2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      zR2-8 (SMRP) - z35-4 (SMRP) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      zR2-11 (IGC2) or z35-1 (IGC2) - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      zR2-8 (SMRP) or z35-4 (SMRP) - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER 
    1. Connect all the disconnected connectors.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      zR2-8 (SMRP) - zR2-10 (GND) Power switch on (IG) 9 to 12 V

      HINT: 

      Perform this inspection with the battery pack wire connector connected.

    NG → See step   27 

    OK → See step   26 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY PACK WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect connector A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-25 (SMRP) - zR2-8 (SMRP) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-25 (SMRP) or zR2-8 (SMRP) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   26 

  12. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER (AMD TERMINAL CONNECTION CONDITION) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    3. Check the connection of the AMD terminal (hybrid vehicle converter side).

      OK

      The terminal is connected securely and there is no contact problem.

    4. Check for arc marks on the AMD terminals (hybrid vehicle converter side and vehicle wire harness side).

      Result

  13. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (AMD TERMINAL) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      AMD terminal - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   24 

    OK → See step   27 

  14. CHECK FUSE 
    1. Check the fuse (IGCT2 NO. 2) in the engine room No. 3 relay block for improper installation and for an open circuit.

      OK

      The fuse is installed securely. There is no open circuit in the fuse.

    NG → REPLACE FUSE (IGCT2 NO. 2 FUSE) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK FUSE (IGCT NO. 3 FUSE) 
    1. Check the fuse (IGCT3) in the luggage room junction block assembly for improper installation and for an open circuit.

      OK

      The fuse is installed securely. There is no open circuit in the fuse.

    NG → REPLACE FUSE (IGCT3 FUSE) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  16. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGC2 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the battery pack wire connector. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      zR2-11 (IGC2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  17. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY PACK WIRE CONNECTOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .

    3. Disconnect the low voltage connector from the hybrid vehicle converter.

      HINT: 

      For the removal and installation procedures related to the low voltage connector of the hybrid vehicle converter. Refer toREMOVAL .

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  18. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK AND FUSE

  19. CHECK FUSE (IGCT NO. 3 FUSE) 
    1. Check the fuse (IGCT3) in the luggage room junction block assembly for improper installation and for an open circuit.

      OK

      The fuse is installed securely. There is no open circuit in the fuse.

    NG → REPLACE FUSE (IGCT3 FUSE) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  20. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER (AMD TERMINAL CONNECTION CONDITION) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    3. Check the connection of the AMD terminal (hybrid vehicle converter side).

      The terminal is connected securely and there is no contact problem.

    4. Check for arc marks on the AMD terminals (hybrid vehicle converter side and vehicle wire harness side).

  21. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (AMD TERMINAL)

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  22. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGC2 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the battery pack wire connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  23. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY PACK WIRE CONNECTOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.

    2. Disconnect the low voltage connector from the hybrid vehicle converter.

      HINT: 

      For the removal and installation procedures related to the low voltage connector of the hybrid vehicle converter. Refer toREMOVAL .

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  24. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY (NEGATIVE TERMINAL) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Check the connection of the auxiliary battery negative terminal cable.

      OK

      The cable is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    3. Check for arc marks on the auxiliary battery negative terminal cable.

      Result

  25. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Auxiliary battery negative terminal (-) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   28 

  26. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  27. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  28. REPAIR OR REPLACE FRAME WIRE (AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL - AMD TERMINAL). Refer to  REMOVAL
