DTC P0867-876: Transmission Fluid Pressure; DTC P0867-878: Transmission Fluid Pressure; DTC P0867-882: Transmission Fluid Pressure; DTC P0989-899: Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch "E" Circuit Low: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0867-876, 878, 882, or P0989-899 only is output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. B

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (TRANSMISSION WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection of the transmission wire connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER CONNECTOR) 
    NOTE:

    Before disconnecting the connectors, confirm that they are properly connected by checking that the locking claws are engaged and that the connectors do not pull out.

    1. Check the connections of the oil pump motor controller connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

      HINT: 

      For connector A, when connecting it, insert it with the locking lever in the raised position. Rotate the lever downward and make sure that the connector is pulled into its socket. When the locking lever is in its fully closed position, a click will be heard as its locking claws engage. After the click is heard, pull up on the connector to confirm that it is properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Check if there is an open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PMP) in the engine room No. 1 junction block.

      OK

      There is no open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PMP).

    NG → REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (SP SOLENOID VALVE, PB3 OIL PRESSURE SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect connector E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E55-8 (SP) - Body ground 68°F (20°C) 11 to 15 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      E55-20 (PB3) - Body ground Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Disconnect connector A78 from the oil pump motor controller.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      A74-33 (OPST) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A74-32 (OPM1) - A78-6 (SIG) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A74-33 (OPST) - A78-7 (OPST) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

  8. CHECK RELAY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room No. 5 relay block.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      1 - 2 Always 151 to 203 Ω

  9. CHECK OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the oil pump motor controller.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      W - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      U - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      V - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      OHW- Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

  10. CHECK OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect connector A78 from the oil pump motor controller.
    3. Install the OIL PMP relay to the engine room No. 5 relay block.

    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      A78-5 (+B) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room No. 5 relay block.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    9. Disconnect connector A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    10. Turn the power switch off.
    11. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      A74-24 (OPM2) - Engine room No. 5 relay block OIL PMP relay terminal 1 Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LINE PRESSURE) 
    1. Connect connector A74 to the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Line Pressure.
    5. Read the data list.

      OK

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Line Pressure E61-8 (PB3) is connected to body ground ON
      E61-8 (PB3) is not connected to body ground OFF

    NG → See step   24 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    2. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  13. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LINE PRESSURE SOLENOID, B2 OIL PRESSURE, LINE PRESSURE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Line Pressure Solenoid, B2 Oil Pressure, Line Pressure.
    4. Check the data list items for approximately 8 seconds after pressing the power switch with the brake pedal depressed.
      Line Pressure Solenoid B2 Oil Pressure Line Pressure Malfunction Condition
      OFF ON OFF PB3 oil pressure switch malfunction
      OFF OFF OFF Hybrid vehicle transmission assembly malfunction

  14. SIMULATION TEST (OIL PUMP MOTOR) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Activate the Oil Pump (500 RPM), Activate the Oil Pump (1000 RPM).
    3. Select the following menu items: All Data / OPM Target Revolution, OPM Revolution.
    4. Perform the "Activate the Oil Pump (500 RPM)" and "Activate the Oil Pump (1000 RPM)" active tests.

      OK

      "OPM Target Revolution" and "OPM Revolution" values are almost equal.

      NOTE:

      Make sure that the auxiliary battery is not discharged.

    NG → See step   34 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. SIMULATION TEST (HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Line Pressure, Line Pressure Solenoid.
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. 10 seconds later, read the data list.

      OK

      "Line Pressure" remains OFF when "Line Pressure Solenoid" is ON.

    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Check if DTCs are output.

      OK

      DTCs are not output.

    6. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Control the Shift Position.
    7. Select the following menu items: All Data / B1 Oil Pressure, B2 Oil Pressure, Line Pressure, Line Pressure Solenoid.
    8. Perform the "Control the Shift Position" active test.
    9. Switch the shift position between "Lo" and "Hi" several times using the "Control the Shift Position" active test.

      OK

  16. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK: Go to next step 

  17. CHECK FLUID LEAKS 
    1. Check for fluid leaks from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

      OK

      There are no fluid leaks.

    NG → See step   31 

    OK: Go to next step 

  18. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (PB3 OIL PRESSURE SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the oil strainer assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Check the connection of the PB3 oil pressure switch connector.

      Result

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  19. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    2. Disconnect the connector from the PB3 oil pressure switch.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Transmission wire PB3 oil pressure switch side - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the transmission wire connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      E55-20 (PB3) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

  21. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (PB3 OIL PRESSURE SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the oil strainer assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Check the connection of the PB3 oil pressure switch connector.

      Result

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  22. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    2. Disconnect the connector from the PB3 oil pressure switch.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Transmission wire PB3 oil pressure switch side - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the transmission wire connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  23. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector and disconnect connector E55 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector E55.
    2. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      NOTE:

  25. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (PB3 OIL PRESSURE SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the oil strainer assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Check the connection of the PB3 oil pressure switch connector.

      Result

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  26. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    2. Disconnect the connector from the PB3 oil pressure switch.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Transmission wire PB3 oil pressure switch side - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the transmission wire connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

  29. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  30. REPLACE RELAY (OIL PMP). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  31. REPAIR OR REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  32. REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  33. REPLACE PB3 OIL PRESSURE SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  34. REPLACE OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
