DTC P0013: Camshaft Position "B" Actuator Circuit / Open (Bank 1); DTC P0023: Camshaft Position "B" Actuator Circuit / Open (Bank 2): Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (OPERATE OIL CONTROL VALVE FOR INTAKE CAMSHAFT)
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Start the engine and turn the tester on.
- Warm up the engine.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2).
- Check the engine speed while operating the oil control valve using the tester.
OK
Tester Operation Specified Condition -128% (Oil control valve OFF) Normal engine speed 127% (Oil control valve ON) Engine idles roughly or stalls (soon after oil control valve switched from OFF to ON)
NG → See step 2
OK → CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the exhaust camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 20 °C (68°F) 6.9 to 7.9 Ω - Reconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
NG → REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OCV - ECM)
- Disconnect the E21 or E31 OCV connector.
- Disconnect the E3 or E5 ECM connectors.
- Measure the resistance.
