Multi-Display Power Source Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (TAU-B) 
    1. Remove the combination meter assembly.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      C11-2 (TAU-B INPUT) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (TAU-G) 
    1. Check the input signal waveform.

      1. Remove the combination meter assembly.
      2. Connect the oscilloscope to terminal C11-3 (TAU-G INPUT) and body ground.
      3. Start the engine.
      4. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.

        WAVEFORM:

        Item Condition
        Tool setting 10 V/DIV., 20 ms/DIV.
        Vehicle condition Engine idle speed

        HINT: 

        As the engine speed goes higher, the frequency becomes shorter.

    NG → GO TO ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM 

    OK → REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
