DTC P3233-750: Open or Short to B+ in Blocking of HV Gate Connection: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY)
    WARNING:

Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off and remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .
      NOTE:

After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair service information.

    2. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

    3. Disconnect connector A60 from the inverter with converter assembly.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A60-6) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A54-73) - +B1 (A54-46) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A54-73) - +B2 (A54-23) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A54-73) - BATT (A54-20) 10 kΩ or more

      HINT:

To check for a short to +B1, the power switch is turned on (IG). However, the battery voltage is not applied to terminals +B1 and +B2 because the IGCT relay is not turned on with connector A54 disconnected from the hybrid vehicle control ECU. Therefore, measure the resistance between terminals HSDN and +B1 and also between terminals HSDN and +B2.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A54-73) - HSDN (A60-6) Below 1 Ω

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step

  2. CHECK INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
      Fig 2: Identifying A60 Connector

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A60-6) - +B (A60-31) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A60-6) - +B2 (A60-30) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A60-6) - Body ground 2.65 to 3.55 kΩ

NG → REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY

    OK → See step   3

  3. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS
