DTC P3107-215: Airbag ECU Communication Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Airbag system DTCs are output.

YES → GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM

    NO: Go to next step

  2. CLEAR DTC (HV)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

    NEXT: Go to next step

  3. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    2. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      P3107-215 is output.

    YES → See step   5

    NO: Go to next step

  4. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

YES → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA

NO → REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

  5. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
    1. Connect an oscilloscope between the center airbag sensor assembly terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.

      Item Contents
      Terminal GSW2 (K44-14) - E1 (K44-25)
      Equipment Setting 5 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Power switch on (READY)

      OK

The waveform appears as shown in the illustration.

    OK → See step   7

    NG: Go to next step

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY)
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Disconnect connector K44 from the center airbag sensor assembly.

    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      GSW2 (K44-14) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      ABFS (A54-96) - GSW2 (K44-14) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      ABFS (A54-96) or GSW2 (K44-14) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK → REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

  7. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS
