DTC P2799-859: Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Pump Control Circuit High: Procedure

  1. CHECK OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A55 from the oil pump motor controller.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      +B (A55-5) - Body ground 10 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Disconnect connector A55 from the oil pump motor controller.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPST (A54-2) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPST (A54-2) - OPST (A55-7) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPST (A54-2) or OPST (A55-7) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPST (A54-2) - +B1 (A54-46) 6.5 to 8.5 kΩ

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CLEAR DTC (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read output DTCs.

      Result

      DTC P2799-859 is output.

    YES → See step   13 

    NO: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    YES → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    NO → See step   14 

  7. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK (OIL PMP) 
    1. Check that there is no open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PMP) in the engine room R/B No. 1.

      OK

      There is no open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PUMP).

    NG → REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - ENGINE ROOM R/B NO. 1) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room R/B No. 1.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 3 - +B (A55-5) Below 1 Ω
      Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 3 - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 2 - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. INSPECT RELAY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 151 to 203 Ω
      3 - 5 10 kΩ or more
      3 - 5 Below 1 Ω
      (Apply battery voltage between 1 and 2)

    NG → REPLACE RELAY (OIL PMP) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE ROOM R/B NO. 1 - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 5 - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 1 - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    OK → CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    NG: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - ENGINE ROOM R/B NO. 1) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (A54-58) - Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 1 Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (A54-58) or Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 1 - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   13 

  13. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  14. REPLACE OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER. Refer to  COMPONENTS
