DTC P2797-881: Auxiliary Transmission Fluid Pump Control Performance: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      DTC No. Relevant Diagnosis
      P2797 (other than 881), P3154 OPM driver circuit
      P2798, P2799, P3175, P3176, P3177 Oil pump motor circuit

    YES → GO TO DTC CHART 

    NO: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER CONNECTOR) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Check the connections of the oil pump motor controller connectors.

      Result

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.

      Result

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    3. Disconnect connector A55 from the oil pump motor controller.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (A54-3) or SI (A55-6) - Body ground Below 1 V
      OPST (A54-2) or OPST (A55-7) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (A54-3) - SI (A55-6) Below 1 Ω
      OPST (A54-2) - OPST (A55-7) Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (A54-3) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      OPST (A54-2) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FUSIBLE LINK (OIL PMP) 
    1. Check that there is no open circuit in the fusible link (OIL PMP) in the engine room R/B No. 1.

      OK

      There is no open circuit in the fusible link.

    NG → REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK RELAY (OIL PMP) 
    1. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room R/B No. 1.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 151 to 203 Ω
      3 - 5 10 kΩ or more
      3 - 5 Below 1 Ω
      (Apply battery voltage between 1 and 2)

    NG → REPLACE RELAY (OIL PUMP) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect connectors from the oil pump motor controller.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      W - Body ground Below 1 V
      U - Body ground Below 1 V
      V - Body ground Below 1 V
      OHW - Body ground Below 1 V
      OHV - Body ground Below 1 V
      OHU - Body ground Below 1 V
      OIGH - Body ground Below 1 V
      OHG - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      W - U Below 1 Ω
      W - V Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      W - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      U - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      V - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      OHW - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      OHV - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      OHU - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      OIGH - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      OHG - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK OIL PUMP MOTOR CONTROLLER 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect connector A55 from the oil pump motor controller.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      +B (A55-5) - Body ground 11 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the oil pump motor controller disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    6. Remove the OIL PMP relay from the engine room R/B No. 1.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 3 - +B (A55-5) Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 2 - Body ground Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect connector A54 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    10. Turn the power switch off.
    11. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (A54-58) - Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 1 Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (A54-58) or Engine room R/B No. 1 OIL PMP relay terminal 1 - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  10. SIMULATION TEST 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Activate the Oil Pump (500rpm), Activate the Oil Pump (1000rpm).
    3. Perform the "Activate the Oil Pump (500rpm)" and "Activate the Oil Pump (1000rpm)" active tests.
    4. During the "Activate the Oil Pump (500rpm)" and "Activate the Oil Pump (1000rpm)" active tests, select the following menu items: User Data / OPM Target Revolution, OPM Revolution.
      NOTE:

      Make sure that the auxiliary battery is not discharged.

    5. Read the data list.

      Result

      OPM Target Revolution and OPM Revolution values are almost equal.

      Result

      OIL PMP OPM Target Revolution
      500 rpm 500
      1000 rpm 1000

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems.. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    NG → REPAIR MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK FOR FLUID LEAK 
    1. Check for fluid leaks from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

      OK

      There are no fluid leaks.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 

    OK → See step   13 

  13. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  14. REPLACE OIL WITH MOTOR PUMP ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
