Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Malfunction: Procedure
- CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check the DTC . Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

Result Proceed to DTC is not output A DTC is output B

- Check the DTC . Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR

- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check the DTC . Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART

- Check the DTC . Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART

- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (WATER TEMPERATURE METER OPERATION)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester ON.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
- Check the operation by referring to the values in the table below.COMBINATION METER:
Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Water Temperature Meter Operation Engine coolant temperature receiver gauge Low, Normal, Hi - OK
Needle indication is normal.
NG → REPLACE COMBINATION METER
OK: Go to next step
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (COOLANT TEMP)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Turn the tester ON.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
- Check the values by referring to the values in the table below.ENGINE AND ECT (2GR-FSE):
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Coolant Temp Engine coolant temperature/Min.: -40°C (-40°F), Max.: 140°C (284°F) After warming up: 80 to 105°C (176 to 221°F) - OK
Engine coolant temperature value displayed on the tester is almost the same as actual engine coolant temperature.

OK → REPLACE COMBINATION METER
- GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
- GO TO ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to PRECAUTION
