Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
  • When troubleshooting the oil pump w/ motor assembly, check for the following conditions.
    • ATF temperature inside the oil cooler is 5°C (41°F) or more.
    • Value of the ambient temperature sensor is 5°C (41°F) or more.
  1. INSPECT OIL PUMP FUSE 
    1. Remove the oil pump fuse from the engine room R/B No. 4.
    2. Check continuity of the oil pump fuse.

      OK: 

      There is continuity.

    NG: REPLACE OIL PUMP FUSE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. INSPECT OIL PUMP RELAY 
    1. Remove the oil pump relay from the engine room R/B No. 4.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      OIL PUMP RELAY

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Below 1 Ω
      3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher
      Below 1 Ω (Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 and 2)

    NG: REPLACE OIL PUMP RELAY 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY, OIL PUMP RELAY - OIL PUMP) 
    1. Remove the oil pump relay from the engine room R/B No. 4.
    2. Disconnect the O9 oil pump w/ motor assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the H34 HV control ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for open) 

      HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY (CHECK FOR OPEN)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (H34-5) - Engine room R/B No. 4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 1 Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for short) 

      HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY (CHECK FOR SHORT)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (H34-5) or Engine room R/B No. 4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 1 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for open) 

      OIL PUMP RELAY - OIL PUMP (CHECK FOR OPEN)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2 - +B (O9-1) Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for short) 

      OIL PUMP RELAY - OIL PUMP (CHECK FOR SHORT)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Engine room R/B No. 4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2 or +B (O9-1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP) 
    1. Disconnect the O9 oil pump w/ motor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H34 HV control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

      Standard Voltage 

      HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP (VOLTAGE)

      Tester Connection Specified Value
      OPST (H34-7) or STAT (O9-2) - Body ground Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP (RESISTANCE)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPST (H34-7) - STAT (O9-2) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Remove the oil pump relay from the engine room R/B No. 4.
    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/ MOBD / HV ECU / ACTIVE TEST / INSPECTION MODE 1.
    5. Put the vehicle into the READY-on state.
    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (VOLTAGE)

      Tester Connection Specified Value
      OPM2 (H34-5) - E1 (H31-5) 10 to 14 V
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (RESISTANCE)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPST (H34-7) - +B1 (H34-2) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 

    OK: REPLACE OIL PUMP W/ MOTOR ASSEMBLY
