WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Lexus RX 400h. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- When troubleshooting the oil pump w/ motor assembly, check for the following conditions:
- ATF temperature inside the oil cooler is 5°C (41 °F) or more.
- Value of the ambient temperature sensor is 5°C (41 °F) or more.
- INSPECT OIL PUMP RELAY
- Remove the oil pump relay from the engine room R/B No. 4.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
OIL PUMP RELAYTester Connection Specified Condition 1 - 2 Below 1 Ω 3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher Below 1 Ω (Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 and 2)
NG: REPLACE OIL PUMP RELAY
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY)
- Remove the OIL PUMP relay from the engine room R/B No. 4.
- Disconnect the H34 HV control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY (VOLTAGE)Tester Connection Specified Value OPM2 (H34-5)-Engine room R/B No. 4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2 Below 1 V - Turn the ignition switch off.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for open)
HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition OPM2 (H34-5)-Engine room R/B No. 4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2 Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for short)
HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY (CHECK FOR SHORT)Tester Connection Specified Condition OPM2 (H34-5) or Engine room R/B No. 4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECUTester Connection Specified Condition OPM2 (H34-5) - +B1 (H34-2) and +B1 (H34-1) 10 kΩ or higher
NG: REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- REPRODUCTION TEST
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/ MOBD / HV ECU / ACTIVE TEST / INSPECTION MODE 1.
- Put the vehicle into the READY-on state and turn on the oil pump relay (activate the oil pump w/ motor assembly).
- Exit INSPECTION MODE 1 and turn the ignition switch off.
- Repeat the above four steps to turn the oil pump relay on and off.
Result:
The symptom is reproduced. (DTC P2601-780 is output.)
NG: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEM
OK: REPLACE OIL PUMP W/ MOTOR ASSEMBLY
