Front Wiper Motor: Installation

  1. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a T30 "TORX" socket, install the wiper motor with the 2 screws.

      Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf) 

    2. Apply MP grease to the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.

    3. Install the link to the wiper motor.

    4. Install the link to the wiper motor.

    5. Install the wiper motor cover with the clamp.

  2. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK 
    1. Slide the windshield wiper motor and link assembly as shown in the illustration so that the pin fits into place, and then install the windshield wiper motor and link assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 7.0 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connector, attach the clamp and install the wire harness to the cowl top panel.

  3. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Push in the ventilator louver to attach the 17 claws and install the ventilator louver.
    2. Install the 2 clips.

    3. Connect the washer hose.

  4. INSTALL HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL 
    1. Attach the 12 clips and 4 clamps to install the hood to cowl top seal.

  5. INSTALL FRONT FENDER MAIN SEAL LH 
    1. Attach the 3 clips to install the fender main seal.

  6. INSTALL FRONT FENDER MAIN SEAL RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  9. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM LH 
    1. Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
    2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

    3. Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the wiper arm and blade come to the position shown in the illustration.

    Standard Measurement 

    MEASUREMENT CONDITION

    Position Specified Condition
    A 16.8 to 36.8 mm (0.661 to 1.45 in.)

    Torque: 25 N*m (255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) 

    HINT:

    Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.

  12. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM RH 
    1. Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
    2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

    3. Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the wiper arm and blade come to the position shown in the illustration

      Standard Measurement 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Position Specified Condition
      B 20.0 to 40.0 mm (0.787 to 1.57 in.)

      Torque: 25 N*m (255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT:

      Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.

    4. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.
