Applicability

Introduction

Some 2008 model year LX 570 vehicles may exhibit an oil leak from the oil pan area. This condition may be caused by a leaking 0-ring on the dipstick tube. Use the following repair procedure to address the customer's concern.

This TSIB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.





Required Tools & Equipment

Repair Procedure

1. Inspect leak location.





2. If the leak is found to be coming from the dipstick tube remove the engine oil dipstick tube by removing the bolt.

3. Remove the old 0-ring from the dipstick tube.

4. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the NEW 0-ring.

5. Install the NEW 0-ring to the dipstick tube.





6. Install the dipstick tube into the pan with the bolt.

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft*lbf)

7. Check and adjust engine oil level as needed.

8. Start the engine and verify the condition is repaired.
