Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
  • When replacing the skid control ECU, perform the following operations:
    • Initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration (see INITIALIZATION  )
    • Yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  )
  • When replacing the brake actuator, perform initialization of the linear solenoid valve and calibration (see INITIALIZATION  ).
  1. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR 
    1. Disconnect the A27 actuator connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      20 (SMC1) - 19 (BS1) Always 15.3 to 25.0 Ω
      6 (SMC2) - 7 (BS2) Always 15.3 to 25.0 Ω
      8 (FRA+) - 5 (FRA-) Always 3.6 to 6.0 Ω
      22 (FRR+) - 21 (FRR-) Always 3.6 to 6.0 Ω
      13 (FLA+) - 14 (FLA-) Always 3.6 to 6.0 Ω
      27 (FLR+) - 28 (FLR-) Always 3.6 to 6.0 Ω
      12 (RRA+) - 11 (RRA-) Always 3.6 to 6.0 Ω
      10 (RLA+) - 9 (RLA-) Always 3.6 to 6.0 Ω
      26 (RRR+) - 25 (RRR-) Always 4.4 to 7.0 Ω
      24 (RLR+) - 23 (RLR-) Always 4.4 to 7.0 Ω

    NG: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR  (See REMOVAL  ).

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BRAKE ACTUATOR)

    1. Disconnect the A19 and A21 ECU connectors.
    2. Disconnect the A27 actuator connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A19-5 (SMC1) - A27-20 (SMC1) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-32 (BSO1) - A27-19 (BS1) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-17 (FRA+) - A27-8 (FRA+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-18 (FRA-) - A27-5 (FRA-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-4 (FRR+) - A27-22 (FRR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-3 (FRR-) - A27-21 (FRR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-19 (RLA+) - A27-10 (RLA+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-20 (RLA-) - A27-9 (RLA-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-34 (RLR+) - A27-24 (RLR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A19-33 (RLR-) - A27-23 (RLR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      A21-6 (SMC2) - A27-6 (SMC2) Always Below 1 Ω

      A19-5 (SMC1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-32 (BSO1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-17 (FRA+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-18 (FRA-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-4 (FRR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-3 (FRR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-19 (RLA+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-20 (RLA-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-34 (RLR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A19-33 (RLR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A21-6 (SMC2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      A21-20 (RRA+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A21-21 (RRA-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A21-34 (RRR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A21-33 (RRR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG)
    3. Check if the same DTCs are recorded (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      HINT:

      Reinstall the sensors, connectors, etc and restore the vehicle to its prior condition before rechecking for DTCs.

      Result

      DTCs (C1315/31, C1316/32, C1352/21, C1353/23, C1354/25, C1355/ 27, C1356/22, C1357/24, C1358/26 and C1359/28) are not output A
      DTCs (C1315/31, C1316/32, C1352/21, C1353/23, C1354/25, C1355/ 27, C1356/22, C1357/24, C1358/26 and C1359/28) are output B

    B: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL  )

    A: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
