Tire And Wheel System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT TIRES 
    1. Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

      Cold tire inflation pressure

      (1) Only for front tires
      (2) Only for rear tires
    2. Using a dial indicator, check the runout of tires.

      Tire runout: 1.0 mm (0.039 in.) or less

  2. ROTATE TIRES 

    HINT:

    • If the rotating direction of the tires is specified, rotate the tires as shown in illustration.
    • 2WD models with 17-inch tires or 18-inch tires cannot be rotated.

  3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE 
    1. Check and adjust the off-the-car balance.

    2. If necessary, check and adjust the on-the-car balance.

      Imbalance after adjustment: 8.0 g (0.018 lb.) or less. 

      HINT:

      In the case of 16-inch wheels, balance weight should be installed by tapping.

      NOTE:
      • Remove dirt, oil and water from the surface where the balance weight is to be adhered with a cleaning detergent.

      • Do not touch the sticking surface of the tape.
      • Adhere the sticking type balance weight to the flat position shown in the illustration.
      • Push the balance weight securely with a finger to adhere it to the position.
      • Do not reuse a balance weight.
      • Please use the LEXUS genuine sticking type balance weight.
  4. INSPECT FRONT AXLE DEVIATION AND BACKLASH 

    HINT:

  5. INSPECT REAR AXLE DEVIATION AND BACKLASH 

    HINT:
