COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH (for 4WD): Removal
- REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 1 INLET AIR CLEANER (See REMOVAL )
- DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
- Start up the engine.
- Turn the A/C switch on.
- Operate the cooler compressor at an engine rpm of approximately 1,000 for 5 to 6 minutes to circulate the refrigerant and collect compressor oil remaining in each component into the cooler compressor as much as possible.
- Stop the engine.
- Using SST, let the refrigerant gas out.

- REMOVE UNDER ENGINE COVER
- REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET
- Remove the bolt, nut, and oil filter bracket.
- REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connector and 2 clamps, and separate the wire harness.
- Remove the 2 nuts, bolts, and oil filter bracket sub-assembly.
HINT:
Place a container under the connection because engine oil will leak out when separating the oil filter bracket.
- REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT SUCTION HOSE (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and nut.
- Using a "Torx" socket wrench (E8), remove the stud bolt and the compressor and magnetic clutch.
