Section 55 (Cooling (2GR-FSE)): Thermostat: Inspection

  1. INSPECT WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. The valve opening temperature is marked on the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

    2. Submerge the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly, and then gradually heat the water.
    3. Check the valve opening temperature.

      Valve opening temperature: 

      80 to 84°C (176 to 183°F) 

      HINT:

      The valve opening temperature is stamped on the water inlet with thermostat.

    4. Check the valve lift.

      Valve lift: 

      8.0 mm (0.315 in.) or more at 95°C (203°F) 

      HINT:

      If the valve lift value is not as specified, replace the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

    5. When the temperature of the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly drops below 77°C, check that the valve is fully closed.

      HINT:

      If the valve is not fully closed, replace the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.
