Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus IS F. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When the seat belt control ECU is replaced with a new one, Initialization must be performed (See INITIALIZATION  ).
  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTC s (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  )
    2. Recheck for DTC s.

      OK: DTC U0100, U0122 or U1101 is not output. 

    NG: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SFI SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTC s (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
    2. Recheck for DTC s

      OK: DTC P0500 is not output. 

    NG: GO TO SFI SYSTEM  (See DTC P0500 VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR "A" )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTC s (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR )
    2. Turn the engine switch off.
    3. Start the engine
    4. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 30 km/h (18 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds
    5. Recheck for DTC s

      OK: DTC C0200, C0205, C0210, C0215, C1235, C1236, C1238 or C1239 is not output. 

    NG: GO TO VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the vehicle speed meter.

      Combination Meter 

      DATA LIST - COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed/Min: 0 km/h (0 mph), Max: 255 km/h (158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed (When driving) -

      OK: Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed. 

    NG: GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM  (See SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTION )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  5. REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Replace the distance control ECU (See DISTANCE CONTROL ECU )
    2. Initialize the distance control ECU (See INSTALLATION ).
  6. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTC s (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Recheck for DTC s.

      OK: DTC B2059 is not output. 

    NG: REPLACE SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU  (See SEAT BELT CONTROL ECU  )

    OK: END
