Inspection Procedure
- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check for CAN communication system DTC s (See
HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
).
HINT
If CAN communication system DTC s are output, inspect those DTC s first
OK: DTC is not output.
NG: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLE SHOOTING) (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
OK: Go to next step
- Check for CAN communication system DTC s (See
HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

- CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check for multiplex communication system DTC s (See
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
).
HINT
If multiplex communication system DTC s are output, inspect those DTC s first.
OK: DTC is not output.
NG: GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART) (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )
OK: Go to next step
- Check for multiplex communication system DTC s (See
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
).
- CHECK FOR DTC (SFI SYSTEM)
- Check for DTC P0705 (Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction).
HINT
If the DTC P0705 (Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction) is output, inspect that DTC first
NG: GO TO SFI SYSTEM (DTC P0705) (See DTC P0705 TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION (PRNDL INPUT) )
OK: Go to next step
- Check for DTC P0705 (Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction).
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
- Turn the engine switch on (IG)
- Enter the following menus. Body Electrical / Mirror U Mirror R / Active Test
- According to the display on the Techstream, perform the "Active Test".
Mirror L and Mirror R

NG: Go to step 9
OK: Go to next step
- REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU
- Replace the outer mirror control ECU with a normally functioning ECU or new one (See OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ).
- CONFIRM POWER MIRROR OPERATION
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Make sure that the brake pedal is depressed
- Move the shift lever from P to R
- Check reverse shift-linked function
OK: Reverse shift-linked function is normal.
NG: Go to step 7
OK: END
- REPLACE GATEWAY ECU
- Replace the gateway ECU with a normally functioning ECU or new one
- CONFIRM POWER MIRROR OPERATION
- Turn the engine switch on (IG)
- Make sure that the brake pedal is depressed.
- Move the shift lever from P to R
- Check reverse shift-linked function
OK: Reverse shift-linked function is normal.
NG: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
OK: REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR (See REMOVAL )
- INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR
- for LH side
- Remove the outer rear view mirror (See REMOVAL ).
- Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror face.
