Propeller Shaft Assembly: Disassembly

  1. REMOVE PROPELLER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT 
    1. Put matchmarks on the intermediate shaft and propeller shaft.
    2. Separate the intermediate shaft and propeller shaft
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the splines.
    3. Remove the adjusting nut from the intermediate shaft.

    4. Remove the dust boot from the propeller shaft

      HINT

      If the dust boot is to be reused, remove it after wrapping vinyl tape around the spline to prevent damage

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a snap ring expander, remove the No. 2 propeller shaft dust deflector snap ring.

    2. Using SST and a press, remove the No. 1 center support bearing assembly and No 2 propeller shaft dust deflector

      SST 09950-00020

    3. Using SST and a press, remove the No 1 propeller shaft dust deflector
