On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION) 
    1. Perform a diagnostic system check (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. With the front seat side airbag assembly installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any following defects, replace the front seat assembly with a new one:

      Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the front seatback assembly around the front seat side airbag assembly.

  2. INSPECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED) 
    1. Perform a diagnostic system check (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  )
    2. With the front seat side airbag assembly removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check If there are any following defects, replace the front seat assembly with a new one:
      • There are scratches, broken or frayed threads on the surface of the front seat side airbag assembly base fabric.
      • A front seat side airbag assembly that has been dropped.
      • A front seat side airbag assembly with a deformed installation part.

      • Cracks or other damage to the wire harness or connector.
        CAUTION: Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures of the front seat assembly.
