Fuel Pump: Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus IS F. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSPECT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY
    1. Inspect the resistance of the fuel pump assembly
      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2

        Standard resistance: 0.2 to 3.0 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump assembly.

    2. Inspect the operation of the fuel pump assembly.
      1. Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and a negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump assembly operates.
        NOTE:
        • These tests must be performed within 10 seconds to prevent the coil from burning out.
        • Keep the fuel pump assembly as far away from the battery as possible.
        • Always turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not on the fuel pump assembly side.
