FUEL INJECTOR (for Port Injection): Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION:
    • Do not smoke or work near an open flame when handling on the fuel system.
    • Keep gasoline away from rubber or leather parts.
    • Do not allow fuel to spray when removing the pipe between the high pressure side fuel pump assembly and the fuel injector assembly. The fuel in the pipe is highly pressurized.
  2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 
    1. Discharge fuel system pressure (See FUEL SYSTEM ).
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  4. REMOVE FUEL HOSE NO.3  (See REMOVAL )
  5. DISCONNECT FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY (for Port Injection) 
    1. Remove the 2 fuel pressure pulsation damper sub-assembly and fuel tube sub-assembly (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Port Injection) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly
      NOTE: When removing the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

    2. Remove the 2 spacers from the intake air surge tank assembly.

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Port Injection) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No 2 fuel delivery pipesub-assembly
      NOTE: When removing the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-asasembly, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

    2. Remove the 2 spacers from the intake air surge tank assembly

  8. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (for Port Injection) 
    1. Remove the fuel injector assembly from the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly and No. 2 fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.
      NOTE: For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

    2. Remove the 2 O-rings from each fuel injector assembly.
