Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 

    HINT

    Front controller sends engine hood open/close signal to main body ECU RH through the multiplex communication

    1. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR )
    2. Check for DTCs again

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      Multiplex communication DTC is not output OK
      Multiplex communication DTC is output NG

    NG: GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on
    4. Select the item below in the Data List and read the display on the Techstream

      Body No. 5 

      DIAGNOSTIC NOTE

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Test Detail Diagnostic Note
      Hood Courtesy SW Engine hood courtesy switch signal/ ON or OFF ON Engine hood is OPEN
      OFF Engine hood is CLOSED
      -

      OK: The indicator on the Techstream switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch status. 

    NG: Go to step 3 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT INSPECTION PROCEDURE SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )

  3. INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH 
    1. Remove the engine hood courtesy switch from the hood lock (See REMOVAL  )
    2. Disconnect the multiplex network body ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1-2 Free (OFF) 10 kΩ or higher
      1-2 Pushed (ON) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the 2G multiplex network body ECU connector and B8 engine hood courtesy switch connector
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2G-3 - B8-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      2G-3 or B8-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B8-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU
