Inspection Procedure
- CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2714 AND P2817)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
- Turn the engine switch on (IG)
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

RESULT REFERENCEDisplay (DTC Output) Proceed to Only P2714 and P2817 are output A Only P2817 is output B P2714, P2817, and other DTCs are output C HINT:
If any other codes besides P2714 and P2817 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.
B: Go to step 3
C: GO TO DTC CHART (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )
A: Go to Next Step
- CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM STALL SPEED TEST
- Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR
)
HINT.
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.
- Perform the stall speed test (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TESTS
).

B: Go to step 4
A: Go to Next Step
- Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR
)
- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL5
- Remove the shift solenoid valve SL5 (See DISASSEMBLY )
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition Terminal 1 of the shift solenoid valve SL5 - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω - Connect a battery positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound
OK: Valve moves and makes an operating sound.
