Rear Brake Pad, Brake Caliper & Brake Rotor: Removal

HINT

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The following procedure is for the LH side.

REMOVE REAR WHEEL
DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
NOTE: Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.
DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE
1. Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the rear flexible hose from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD
NOTE: Be sure to inspect the rear disc when replacing the brake pads with new ones (See INSPECTION ).
1. Using a pin punch (5 mm) and a hammer, push out the pad guide pin (upper) and disengage the ring of the pad guide pin from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly as shown in the illustration
  NOTE: Do not damage the disc brake cylinder surface.

2. Holding the anti-rattle spring, remove the pad guide pin (upper) from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly

3. Remove the anti-rattle spring from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
4. Using a pin punch (5 mm) and a hammer, remove the pad guide pin (lower) from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly
  NOTE: Do not damage the disc brake cylinder surface.

5. Remove the 2 rear disc brake pads with anti-squeal shims from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM
1. Remove the 2 rear disc brake anti-squeal shims from each pad
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder assembly from the rear axle carrier

REMOVE REAR DISC
1. Put matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub.

2. Release the parking brake and remove the rear disc
  HINT.
  
  If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn and press firmly the shoe adjuster until the wheel comes free.
