Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus IS 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air/fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction (See FREEZE FRAME DATA ).

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2119)
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the tester on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read DTCs.

    3. Turn the tester on.
    4. Clear DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

CAUTION: Exercise extreme care and take precautions at procedure "A" and "B" below. Failure to do so may result in the vehicle unexpectedly rolling away.
    6. Securely apply the parking brake and move the gear selector lever to the D position (Procedure "A").
    7. While depressing the brake pedal securely, fully depress the accelerator pedal for 5 seconds (Procedure "B").

      HINT:

The output voltage of the throttle position sensor can be checked during procedure "B" using Techstream. Variations in the output voltage indicate that the throttle actuator is in operation. To check the output voltage using Techstream, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Position No. 1.

      No DTC output.
