DTC DETECTION CONDITION CHART

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P0012 With engine warmed up and while driving in urban area (engine speed 4000 rpm or less), valve timing on bank 1 intake side remains in retarded position for 5 minutes or more (2 trip detection logic)
  • Camshaft timing gear assembly (bank 1)
  • Camshaft timing control motor (bank 1)
P0022 With engine warmed up and while driving in urban area (engine speed 4000 rpm or less), valve timing on bank 2 intake side remains in retarded position for 5 minutes or more (2 trip detection logic)
  • Camshaft timing gear assembly (bank 2)
  • Camshaft timing control motor (bank 2)

Symptoms and Fail-safe Operation During Camshaft Control Motor Malfunction 

VEHICLE CONDITION CHART

Vehicle Condition Fail-Safe
  • Deterioration of driving performance as result of engine combustion degradation
  • Engine output deficiency
  • Idle speed is increased (misfire prevention), or power to camshaft timing control motor is cut
  • Valve timing of bank that is operating normally is fixed at maximum retard angle
