Inspection Procedure

HINT.

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (OCV OPERATION)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine and warm it up.
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Control the VVT System (Bank 1) or Control the VVT System (Bank 2).
    5. Operate the Oil Control Valve (OCV) and check the engine condition at idling.

      OK

      TESTER OPERATION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
OCV is OFF Normal engine speed
OCV is ON Engine idles roughly or stalls (soon after OCV switched from OFF to ON)

    OK: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    NG: Go to next step

  2. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (OPERATION)
    1. Disconnect the C19 or C20 OCV connector.
    2. Apply battery voltage to the terminals of the OCV.
    3. Check the engine speed.

OK: Rough idle or engine stalled.

    4. Reconnect the OCV connector.

NG: REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
