Inspection Procedure

HINT:

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (OCV)
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the tester ON.
    3. Put the engine in inspection mode (See INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE ).
    4. Warm up the engine.
    5. On the tester, enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / VVT CTRL B1 or VVT CTRL B2.
    6. Check the engine speed while operating the Oil Control Valve (OCV) using the tester.

    OK

    TESTER OPERATION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Operation Specified Condition
    OCV OFF Normal engine speed
OCV ON Engine idles roughly or stalls (soon after OCV switched from OFF to ON)

    OK: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    NG: Go to next step

  2. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (OCV SIGNAL)
    1. Disconnect the OCV connector.
    2. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the OCV.

      Standard resistance:

      6.9 to 7.9 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

    3. Reconnect the OCV connector.

NG: REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

  3. INSPECT HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OCV - HV CONTROL ECU)
    1. Disconnect the V6 or V7 OCV connector.
    2. Disconnect the H31 HV control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)
