Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
  • When troubleshooting the oil pump w/ motor assembly, check for the following conditions:
    • ATF temperature inside the oil cooler is 5°C (41°F) or more.
    • Value of the ambient temperature sensor is 5°C (41°F) or more.
  1. INSPECT OIL PUMP RELAY 
    1. Remove the oil pump relay from the engine room R/B No.4.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Below 1 Ω
      3 - 5 10 kΩ or higher
      Below 1 Ω (Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 and 2)

    NG: REPLACE OIL PUMP RELAY

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY) 
    1. Remove the OIL PUMP relay from the engine room R/B No.4.
    2. Disconnect the H34 HV control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Value
      OPM2 (H34-5) - Engine room R/B No.4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 1 Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for open) 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (H34-5) - Engine room R/B No.4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 1 Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for short) 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (H34-5) or Engine room R/B No.4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 1 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM2 (H34-5) - +B2 (H34-2) and +B1 (H34-1) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. REPRODUCTION TEST 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/ MOBD / HV ECU / ACTIVE TEST / INSPECTION MODE 1.
    4. Put the vehicle into the READY-on state and turn on the oil pump relay (activate the oil pump w/ motor assembly).
    5. Exit INSPECTION MODE 1 and turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Repeat the above four steps to turn the oil pump relay on and off.

      Result: 

      The symptom is reproduced. (DTC P2601-780 is output.) 

    NG: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEM 

    OK: REPLACE OIL PUMP W/ MOTOR ASSEMBLY
