Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
  • When troubleshooting the oil pump w/ motor assembly, check for the following conditions:
    • ATF temperature inside the oil cooler is 5°C (41°F) or more.
    • Value of the ambient temperature sensor is 5°C (41°F) or more.
  1. CHECK OPERATION OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / OBD/ MOBD / HV ECU / ACTIVE TEST / INSPECTION MODE
    4. Check the waveform between the terminals of the HV control ECU.

      OK 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (H34-6) - E1 (H31-5) The waveform appears as shown in the illustration.

      Result 

      DTC RESULT DESCRIPTION

      Waveform Proceed to
      Normal waveform A
      Waveform other than normal waveform B
      No waveform (0 V) C
      No waveform (I2 V) D

    B: REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU 

    C: GO TO step   2 

    D: GO TO step   4

    A: REPLACE OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect O9 oil pump w/ motor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H34 connector from the HV control ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for open) 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (H34-6) - OPM1 (09-3) Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for short) 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (H34-6) or OPM1 (09-3) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the HV control ECU connector. NG

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT HV CONTROL ECU (OPM1 TERMINAL CONTINUITY CHECK) 
    1. Disconnect the H31 and H34 HV control ECU connectors.
    2. Check the continuity between each terminal.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (H34-6) - E1 (H31-5) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU

    OK: REPLACE OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the O9 oil pump w/ motor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H34 HV control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      OPM1 (H34-6) - Body ground Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT OIL PUMP W/MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      L (O9-4) - OPM1 (O9-3) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: REPLACE HV CONTROL ECU
